Salary: Up to £30K depending on experience

Position: Permanent, Full-time

Place of work: London South West Office and field based
Main Office: Unit 25 Gemini Project, Landmann Way, Deptford, London, SE145RL

Hours: Mon – Fri 08.00 – 16.30
These are the standard working hours, however you will be expected to have a flexible approach to working hours to accommodate customer requirements as per contract of employment.

Holidays: As per contract of employment

Line Manager: Peter Gregory – General Manager

Direct reports: 3 x maintenance technicians + installation operatives as the business allows.

Job summary: To manage operations (installations and maintenance) in the UPF owned London South West/North territory.

Key responsibilities & duties:

  • Liaise with sales, national sales, operations and customers to effectively manage all aspects of installations.
  • Advise sales of earliest opportunity for new installations.
  • Order goods from suppliers to fulfil installation
  • Produce weekly and monthly installation programmes and distribute to relevant staff
  • Identify manpower requirements for installations and allocate resource through own internal staff, temporary labour or sub-contractors.
  • Liaise with customers to finalise installation date/time and put into effect any customer specific advance requirements, such as booking parking to achieve this.
  • Hire vehicles as required for installations and arrange appropriate congestion charges etc to be paid
  • Plant up displays, organise appropriate transport and install at customer premises.

  • Manage operational unit and plant store to maintain consumable and live stocks at the appropriate level and in the appropriate environment and be responsible for housekeeping.
  • Manage service team including work scheduling and resource allocation.
  • Occasional maintenance relief cover as required.
  • Gather information for plant replacements and add to orders, assist with installation of plant replacements as required.
  • Carry out any other reasonable requests and activities as directed by the General Manager or other senior Urban Planters Franchise Ltd staff.
  • Assist other employees with any reasonable requests as required.


  • Will be supplied with large Transit van type vehicle. This can be parked at home address, but if not possible will be parked at Main office and transport to this location will be at employees expense.

Candidate Requirements

  • Organised
  • Able to motivate a team and give instruction
  • Good logistical skills
  • Good diplomatic skills to manage the difference expectations of parties involved
  • Calm under pressure
  • Interest in horticulture desirable, but not essential
  • Good IT skills and competent in all aspects of Microsoft Office
