An organisation that provides sporting opportunities for Armed Forces personnel has awarded a £10,000 grant to Turn to Starboard, the charity that uses sailing courses to support veterans affected by military operations…
Team Ethos (part of Team Army) support a worldwide range of competitive sports that are played in the Armed Forces. The charity also help with several sporting initiatives used to aid rehabilitation and recovery for mental and physical injury.
Turn to Starboard Funding Coordinator, Steve Richards, said: “We are immensely grateful to the Team Ethos trustees for deciding to award Turn to Starboard this grant. This will make a significant difference to us in supporting our new competitive sail racing initiative throughout 2019, where beneficiaries can gain new skills and valuable miles towards their RYA Yachtmaster qualifications.”
Speaking last month, Maj Gen Lamont Kirkland CB, CEO of Team Ethos/Team Army said: “We are extremely proud that our fundraising efforts over the last seven years has enabled thousands of our servicemen and women to take part in sport at every level; from beginner to Olympic standard. Sport is a key element in keeping our Forces fighting fit and it plays a vital role in improving welfare, morale, operational effectiveness and recovery.”
