AFF To Assess Work-Life Balance Of Families

How does your soldier’s work/life balance affect your Army family? That’s what the Army Families Federation (AFF) is asking families in their latest survey, now live until 31 May…

AFF is aware that some families struggle with their soldier’s working hours and inability to take the annual leave they are owed. They are keen to learn more about the barriers to a good work/life balance families are facing, and importantly, what families feel would make a positive difference.

AFF Chief Executive Sara Baade said: “Families tell us that it can be a struggle for their soldier to be able to switch off when they come home to their family. What’s more, others report that they hardly see their soldier, due to his or her workload.

“We are asking families to share their experience of these issues with us, to inform our next steps in securing positive changes on their behalf.”

AFF’s short survey asks families whether poor work/life balance has forced them to consider leaving the Army – this comes after ‘impact of Service life on family and personal life’ has repeatedly been the top reason given by personnel who have put in their notice to leave the Army.

The work/life balance survey is live from 4th-31st May. Families can take part here.
