AWE plays a crucial role in national nuclear security. Working to support UK defence, we’re a team of around 6,000 amazing people from all kinds of backgrounds in all kinds of roles, with one clear mission: to keep everyone and everything around us safe and secure.

For almost 70 years, The Atomic Weapons Establishment has supported the UK Government’s nuclear defence strategy and the Continuous At Sea Deterrent. Our role in keeping the nation safe is to manufacture, maintain and develop the warheads for Trident, the UK’s ultimate deterrent, and use our unique skills and expertise to support nuclear threat reduction.

To work at AWE is to play a valuable part in keeping our country safe and secure. We have career opportunities in Engineering,
Health & Safety, IT, Project Management, Finance, HR and Science.

In fact, the roles at AWE are very diverse and cover everything you would expect in a large organisation.
