The annual list of the UK’s top employers for veterans, reservists and military families has been revealed, with Babcock and BAE Systems sharing the top spot in the 2025 edition of the 50 GREAT British Employers of Veterans ranking.
Now in its latest edition, the programme is a recognised benchmark for organisations that provide meaningful and sustained support to the Armed Forces community in civilian employment. It highlights employers who offer structured career pathways, targeted HR policies and long-term commitments to those leaving or connected to military life.
The 2025 list, released ahead of the British Forces in Business Awards, recognises 50 employers whose approach to veteran employment sets the national standard. Inclusion is based on a detailed evaluation process combining data analysis and expert judgement by an independent panel of 21 veteran business leaders, drawn from companies and institutions including Asda, Fortinet, the University of Cambridge, and the Veterans Covenant Healthcare Alliance.
Ben Rossi, founder of the Forces in Business Awards and the 50 GREAT British Employers of Veterans programme, said: “To feature in the Top 50 is to stand among the most committed supporters of the Armed Forces community. The 2025 list reflects a growing coalition of employers who truly understand military talent, setting best practice and proving that investing in the Armed Forces community is not just the right thing to do – it’s a clear strategic advantage.”
Over 15,000 individuals leave the UK Armed Forces each year, and while awareness of veteran skills has grown, navigating the employment landscape remains a challenge. The list aims to act as a definitive resource for jobseekers from the military community, identifying where consistent support and opportunity can be found.
Former Brigadier Andrew Jackson, Managing Director of sponsor SMJ and a member of the judging panel, added: “The 50 GREAT British Employers of Veterans is packed full of good practice. Now is the time for these trailblazing employers to help others implement their good practice, promote veterans as assets to business and society, and help ensure as smooth a transition as possible for service leavers, veterans and their families.”
