Briggs Equipment Signs The Armed Forces Covenant

Briggs Equipment has pledged to support current and former members of the Royal Navy, the British Army and the Royal Air Force by signing up to the Armed Forces Covenant…

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise that the nation will honour the courage and commitment of those who protect the UK by treating Regulars and Reservists, veterans and their families with fairness and respect. The Covenant relies on the people, communities and businesses of the UK to actively support it in order to make a real difference.

Briggs is now one of 1,500 signatories of the Covenant who commit to making a difference by doing everything they can to ensure that service personnel are treated fairly and, in certain circumstances, to give them special consideration.

Briggs will support the employment of veterans by working with the Career Transition Partnership and REME Association Job Agency and will also look to recruit service spouses and partners. The company has promised to be flexible, granting leave to spouses and partners of serving personnel and will lend its support to employees who join the Reserve forces by accommodating their training requirements and deployment.

There are ex-service personnel among the team at Briggs Defence, Briggs Equipment’s specialist division that specialises in engineering services, asset management and equipment supply to the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and related agencies, and some of its highly skilled engineers were formerly part of the Armed Forces community.

Briggs enjoys close links with the Armed Forces through its contracts to manage Ministry of Defence assets across the globe, while Briggs Defence’s sponsorship and fundraising initiatives benefit various military charities, including SSAFA, Help for Heroes and ABF, The Soldiers’ Charity.

Gary Clements, Strategic Development Director at Briggs Equipment, said: "We are proud to sign up to the Armed Forces Covenant and will actively promote the business as being Armed Forces friendly, offering support wherever we can to staff who are members of the Services, ex-servicemen and women looking for employment and their family members."
