Military charity Turn to Starboard will this weekend wish one of their ambassadors bon voyage as he sets sail on a fundraising solo circumnavigation of the globe…
John Savage will attempt to become one of only a handful of people to sail around the world singlehandedly and will slip the lines on his 40-foot yacht at Falmouth Marina on Thursday 20th September at 11am.
The ex-British Army Captain has raised over £50,000 in aid of Turn to Starboard and The Blue Marine Foundation so far, which is a third of his intended target of £150,000. The total challenge is expected to last four years with stops along the way including Christmas in the Caribbean.
The Blue Marine Foundation is a charity dedicated to creating marine reserves and establishing sustainable models of fishing.
