Chennai Six Survivor Nick Dunn To Appear At Military Resettlement Expo In Newcastle

A former soldier who was detained in India for four years will be appearing at an Armed Forces resettlement exhibition at St James’ Park.

Nick Dunn from Northumberland was part of a group of titled the “Chennai Six”, who were jailed in 2013 after officials in India found weapons and ammunition on board a ship, Nick and his colleagues were guarding.

At the time of arrest, Nick and his team were working as an Anti Piracy team on board the vessel MV Seaman Guard Ohio.

The 32-year old from Ashington, Northumberland, will now share his experiences with fellow members of the military community at a resettlement expo, organised by national resettlement magazine, Pathfinder International at St. James’ Park, Newcastle on Thursday November 1.

Speaking about the event, Nick said: “I’m delighted to be supporting the resettlement expo at St James’ Park and be able to share my experiences with the forces community.”

The event, titled The Armed Forces & Veterans Resettlement Expo, will have over 30 exhibitors in attendance offering a range of advice for the military community from careers to mental health.

Pathfinder editor, Mal Robinson is thrilled to add Nick to the roster of speakers. Robinson added: “We already had a strong line up of speakers including the likes of BAE Systems talking about careers abroad, to Nick Wood and Steve Heaney talking about their transitional experiences. Now we have added Nick Dunn, it should prove to be an interesting day all round.”

The resettlement expo is free to attend for all service leavers, veterans and their families and doors open at 10:00 until 15:00. Nick Dunn will begin his talk at 13:40.
