Gander & White Is Hiring Heroes

Gander & White Shipping, the world’s leading expert in the transportation, storage, and installation of high-value cultural objects, has launched a recruitment campaign directed at military veterans, highlighting career opportunities in fine art logistics.

In recognition of its strong military affiliation, Gander & White has partnered with Help For Heroes, pledging a donation of £1,000 for every veteran who joins the company in the initial twelve months of the campaign.

As part of its commitment to former members of the armed forces, Gander & White has overhauled its recruitment protocol and language to better illustrate the suitability of roles available to military veterans across the global fine art logistics sector. The Royal Warrant-holding company is an accredited member of the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme and is registered with the Career Transition Partnership, the Ministry of Defence’s official resettlement scheme.

The 90-year-old, third-generation family-owned company has a rich military history. It was established in 1933 by RAF officer Frank White, and from 1966-1981 was run by his wife Andrée, who played a prominent role in the French Resistance, becoming one of the most decorated women in France and receiving the Légion d’Honneur amongst other honours.

Speaking about the initiative, Gander & White’s Global Business Development and Sustainability Manager and grandson of the founder, Alexander Bradford, comments:

“Military veterans share our values of respect, integrity, service, and excellence. They have also often received training and achieved qualifications that make them ideally suited to the world of fine art logistics. Working with us offers unique insight into the global art world, working with leading galleries, museums, and auction houses, along with private families and estates. We are custodians for some of the world’s most important cultural treasures and trusted partners for the storage and transportation of valuable and culturally significant objects”.

Heather Powell, Head of Community, Events and Trading at Help for Heroes, added:

”We welcome Gander & White’s commitment to supporting the recruitment of UK veterans. We hope it can be a blueprint for other companies to follow. This is just the latest example of our ongoing desire to engage in community initiatives that benefit both veterans and the local population, and we look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship with the team at Gander & White”.
