IET Armed Forces Technician Award

The 2024 IET Apprentice and Technician Awards are now officially open for nominations – and we’re looking for incredible armed forces technicians who stand out from their peers and go above and beyond expectations. Who do you think should win?

The award’s for a technician of any level; whether they’re just starting out, or have made history through an established career of amazing achievements, we want to hear about them. Tell us why they deserve to win – they must have gone above and beyond to be eligible, through their contribution to a project in the workplace, or by excelling in their technical understanding or ability. We also love to hear about technicians who are role models to others and passionate about promoting engineering to the world.

It’s about more than winning; a nomination can make someone feel amazing, help boost a person’s career, promote their organisation, and help inspire others into engineering. Most recently awarded to Lance Corporal Connor O’Neill of the 14th Signal Regiment, Electronic Warfare, British Army, in 2023. Winners receive a trophy, two year’s free membership to the IET and a cash prize of £1,000! Imagine what winning would mean to someone you know…

Don’t just take our word for it, though; here’s what winning the Armed Forces Technician Award meant to some of our previous winners:

So, who will you nominate?

The award’s also open for self-nominations, so perhaps you’ve made waves or history in your own career that you want to share and be recognised for? Nominate someone amazing today, or apply for yourself. There’s no better way to recognise engineering excellence.

Nominations are open until 13 May 2024 – visit theiet.org/AFTech-award to apply.
