‘Pedal On The Prom’ To Support Military Charity

Blind Veterans UK, the national charity for vision-impaired ex-Service men and women, is calling on cyclists in North Wales to join them for a leisurely cycle ride…

The event will take place on Saturday 19 May, with North Wales Coastal Path set to play host to a 93.6km cycle ride. Participants are welcome to join the ride at various locations between Barkby Beach Prestatn and Llandudno Cenotaph.

Victoria Beech, Regional Fundraiser for Blind Veterans UK, says: “Cycling is a pastime that can be enjoyed by all, regardless of sight. Many of our blind veterans are able to enjoy tandem rides with the support of our staff and volunteers, and we’re hoping that this’ll be yet another event they can participate in.”

There will be three meeting points in total; Barkby Beach Prestatyn, Rhyl Cycle Hub and Porth Eirias, with meeting times of 10:30am, 10:55am and 11:25am and approximate riding distances of 93.6km, 80.8km and 25.8km respectively.

Pre-registration is essential, with a fee of £5 and a minimum sponsorship pledge of £30. Under 16 year-olds must be accompanied by a responsible adult, with no registration fee applicable. Participants should ensure they arrive at their chosen start point 20 minutes ahead of the stated time to sign in and receive a safety brief.
