RAF Benevolent Fund Donates To Veterans Outreach Support Service

Paul Hughesdon, Director of Welfare and Policy for the RAF Benevolent Fund, visited the offices of the Sir Oswald Stoll Foundation on 11th April to present a donation of £20,000

The money will help fund a new Veterans Outreach Support Service for vulnerable and disabled ex-Service personnel facing difficult housing and support issues.

Mr Hughesdon said: “I am delighted to present this donation towards the Sir Oswald Stoll Foundation’s new Outreach Service. A significant number of the people the charity helps are from the RAF family, and this donation reflects our determination to work with other organisations to address the issue of homelessness and related problems in the veteran community.

“Working in this way is essential to our role as the RAF’s leading welfare charity, helping us deliver specialist support where it is most needed among members of the RAF family.”

As well as helping with housing issues, the Outreach Service will help veterans learn to manage their finances, develop a back-to work plan, obtain access to specialist services and prevent social isolation – according to each case’s requirements.

Rick Brunwin, Chief Executive of the Oswald Stoll Foundation said: “The support from the RAF Benevolent Fund is a welcome boost for this new and innovative service which is already reaching into the Ex-Service community in London to help Veterans in real difficulties with their housing, helping them tackle these problems, preventing their homelessness and thereby improving their lives”.
