Recruiters Look Out For Rising Stars At Colchester’s Military To Civilian Transition Event

With a planned reduction in the UK’s Armed Forces by 22,000 before the year 2015, the second tranche of redundancies has been announced

This will be the last major tranche for the Navy and the RAF who will see up to 400 members of the Naval Service and up to 1,000 members of the Royal Air Force leaving in this phase.

Non-for-profit organisation, BFRS, is holding an event in Colchester, to bring together those considering their next steps and their families face to face with a wide range of opportunities. Employers attending the event include Harrods, Liverpool Victoria Insurance, the Gap Group and Barnack Confectionary. They are looking to recruit new staff from the Service Leaver community and their families.

The event also provides inspiration for those thinking of being their own boss, as there are a number of self employment opportunities exhibiting including franchises Jim’s Mowing and Key Tech and Decor8. Training companies will also be on hand to identify where there may be ways in which those leaving can become more attractive to employers. There will be housing advice available and job centre plus are also attending.

Spouses and family members are also welcome to take advantage of the support available at the event. Attendees are urged to bring their CVs along with them to benefit from free CV-writing assistance. BFRS’ CV expert is also able to give one to one interview advice, and so if you have an interview lined up and want to make the right impression then Sandy Caple will share ideas.
