The Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) has appointed Mandy Lindley as its new Deputy Chief Executive Officer, following more than a decade in senior leadership roles within the organisation.
A former member of the Women’s Royal Naval Service, Lindley brings first-hand experience of service life alongside extensive charity leadership experience. She joined RNRMC in 2015 as Director of Relationships and Funding, where she has overseen all grant-making and commissioning activity and served on the executive team.
During that period, RNRMC has reshaped its funding approach, placing greater emphasis on early intervention, prevention and a clearer understanding of need across the Royal Navy community, supported by evidence-based outcomes. Lindley is also a former trustee of The Women’s Royal Naval Service Benevolent Trust.
Dr Brian Gilvary, Chair of RNRMC, said Lindley’s appointment reflected both her service background and her contribution to the charity’s strategic development.
“Mandy’s appointment reflects her exceptional contribution to RNRMC and her deep-rooted understanding of the Royal Navy,” he said. “Her own service experience, combined with her strategic leadership and insight into need across the naval family, has been fundamental in strengthening how the charity supports its beneficiaries.”
After leaving the Royal Navy, Lindley moved into the voluntary and community sector, building more than 15 years’ experience in early years and family support. She founded and managed Home-Start Portsmouth, delivering community-based early intervention for families.
Lindley said she was proud to take on the role and emphasised the importance of timely support.
“I understand the importance of timely, effective support for those in the Royal Navy community,” she said. “I’ve seen first-hand how early intervention and strong partnerships can change lives, and I’m committed to ensuring our funding and work continues to make a meaningful, lasting difference.”
RNRMC remains the principal charity of the Royal Navy, working alongside organisations across the Naval Service and wider Armed Forces community to adapt its support as needs evolve.
