ROYAL NAVY & ROYAL MARINES CHARITY EVENING RECEPTION

The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) hosted its annual evening reception at St Martin-in-the-Fields, Trafalgar Square, with generous sponsorship from Navy Leaders and Oaklin.

The event, which took place on 2 December 2024, served to thank the charity’s supporters and friends for their continued commitment.

The reception followed the traditional Christmas lessons and carols at the Admiralty Carol Service, attended by the First Sea Lord, Admiral Sir Ben Key KCB CBE ADC, and members of the Navy Board. This event marked the official start of the festive season for the wider naval family, with the lighting of the first Advent candle. Musical performances were provided by the brass quintet from the Band of HM Royal Marines Portsmouth and the Chapel Choir of the Royal Hospital School.

The Lessons were read by Amanda Martin, MP for Portsmouth North, Andrew Jameson OBE, CEO of RNRMC, and Dominic Hurndall, Partner at event sponsors Oaklin. Able Seaman Shaneika McLean from HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH and Royal Marine of the Year 2024, Corporal Ryan Brennan from 45 Commando read on behalf of the Royal Navy.

The address by The Venerable Andrew Hillier KHC, Chaplain of the Fleet, touched upon the festive season, carrying a message of light, life and hope.

Following the service, the reception, held in the Crypt, offered an opportunity for the First Sea Lord to highlight the significant impact of the RNRMC’s work and to express gratitude to those present for their unwavering support of the charity’s mission to assist sailors, marines, and their families for life.

This year’s reception was proudly sponsored by Navy Leaders and Oaklin, marking Oaklin’s partnership with RNRMC through the Bridge Partnership scheme.

Oaklin Partner, Dominic Hurndall, said:

“We are incredibly proud of our partnership with the RNRMC.  It’s a chance for us to stay connected to the Royal Navy and to support the incredibly important work the charity does, particularly in the festive period where the need among those who are struggling is most acutely felt.”

About their continued partnership with RNRMC, Nathan Martin, CEO & Founder of Defence Leaders said:

“At Defence Leaders, we are proud to support the Admiralty Carol Service and the vital work of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity. This sponsorship reflects our ongoing commitment to recognising and supporting both serving personnel and veterans who have dedicated themselves to our country. It’s an honour to contribute to such a meaningful event alongside an organisation that makes such a difference in the lives of those who serve.”
