The Armed Forces & Veterans Expo Bristol Welcomes STEM Learning

The Armed Forces & Veterans Resettlement Expo is a week away today!

The fifth event in the series from military resettlement publication, Pathfinder International magazine, sees for the first time, the introduction of STEM Ambassadors from the RAF and Graphic Science.

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths and promotes these four elements in learning and education.

The Armed Forces & Veterans Resettlement Expo series already broke the mold in terms of forces events with the inclusion of veterans and military spouses in addition to those currently in service. Now, the Expo series encourages cadets and students alike to attend, particularly with the Bristol event taking place within the half term school period.

Pathfinder editor, Mal Robinson said, “despite Pathfinder being in the 30th year of supporting the UK Armed Forces, we find the military resettlement scene ever evolving and as such we structure the magazine and associated products, such as our Armed Forces Expo series, as the situation decrees.

The inclusion of STEM Ambassadors promoting STEM learning within the forces family, further reinforces this ethos, as we look to include everyone from the military community, from serving personnel, to veterans, military spouses and now cadets and key stage education groups.

Transitioning from the services is not only about finding that second career, it is about offering key advice for any age range across a number of topics in support of those leaving or who have left the military. I am delighted to introduce STEM at our Bristol event and hope to see as many cadets and families there as possible.”

Introducing a little more about Graphic Science…

Graphic Science are the lead organisation for the STEM Ambassador Hub West England.
The acronym STEM (meaning Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) illustrates the relationship between these four areas of research and industry. It is a broad description that also demonstrates the interdependence of these subjects.
STEM Ambassadors are adult volunteers representing a spectrum of STEM professionals, students, apprentices, researchers and communicators. They volunteer with young people to help convey the message that STEM subjects and careers are interesting, varied, inclusive and rewarding. The STEM Ambassador programme is co-ordinated across the UK by STEM Learning.
The STEM Ambassador Hub West England is one in a network of 19 Hubs across the UK that manage the volunteering opportunities for the UK’s 54,000 registered STEM Ambassadors.
