The World’s Toughest Rowing Race

2019 marks the 50th year of the Continuous At-Sea Deterrent and to recognise the human endeavour and commitment necessary to sustain this vital operation, HMS Oardacious, a team of four serving Royal Navy Submariners will row over 3000-miles unsupported across the Atlantic Ocean, racing in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, the world’s toughest rowing race…

Their aim is the be the first team to cross the finish line and raise over £100,000 to provide awareness and support for Mental Health in the Submarine community, through the wonderful Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity, a fantastic charity who support sailors, marines and their families for life.

The team are canvassing support and sponsorship to fund this endeavour; with campaign costs estimated at £130,000 to cover the cost of their boat, race kit, race fees etc. They still have a number of fantastic sponsorship opportunities available and would be delighted if you could have a look at their website for details of the sponsorship options available.

They have a range of fantastic engagements over the course of 2019 including a boat unveil ceremony  held on HMS Victory in Portsmouth (12th July 19) and a Charity Gala, which will be held at the Greenwich Naval College Painted Hall, London on the Fri 4 October 2019.

Do check the team’s website and view the partner opportunities for more information. Should you have any questions, please contact the expedition leader Lieutenant Hugo Mitchell-Heggs via email.
