Adapting & Innovationg To Meet Changing Needs

In a note out to to subscribers of the RAF Benevolent Fund’s newsletter, the organisation shares the measures it needs to take and how it will continue to look after the health of those within the RAF Family:..

We understand that this is a difficult time for many and we want to reassure members of the RAF Family we support that we are working hard to continue to meet their needs during this outbreak of COVID-19.

Around three quarters of the RAF Family are aged over 65, many live at a distance from friends and family and are experiencing complex health and welfare challenges, often compounded by their age. Self-isolation is not making the situation any easier and is certainly increasing social isolation and loneliness.

The average age and health profile of the RAF Family means that many will fall into the vulnerable and high-risk category during this uncertain time. We have therefore implemented a series of additional measures to continue to look after the health of those we support as well as our staff, suppliers and partner organisations.

Rest assured all enquiries into the Fund via phone, email or online will be answered and dealt with as quickly as possible.

Unfortunately, for the personal safety and health of the guests and staff of Princess Marina House, our respite centre on the South Coast, we have regretfully had to take the decision to close the centre and the daily lunch club we run from there for veterans living in West Sussex. We have also cancelled or postponed a number of fundraising events over the next few months.

We will continue to adapt and innovate to meet the changing needs of the RAF Family, to ensure they do not face adversity alone. Currently, we offer a range of support to both veterans and serving personnel and their families which includes mental wellbeing support, relationship support, benefits advice, and financial help and we will continue to do so.

If you are personally in need of support, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us. You can email us or contact us online to request help for yourself, or request help on behalf of someone else, or you can call us on 0300 102 1919.
