The University of Exeter is inviting Armed Forces veterans who were deployed to a combat zone during their career to take part in a research study…
The study is aiming to investigate what can be useful to Armed Forces veterans if they are experiencing stress. People react in different ways to stressful experiences and the study aims to find out what can affect this.
Those taking part in the study are asked to complete some short questionnaires and listen to a brief meditation exercise. The study should last for about an hour and each volunteer is paid £10 for participating.
Taking part in the study is completely confidential at all times and will contribute to developing what is beneficial for Armed Forces veterans who experience stress and help to close the gap in current research.
The study is led by Samantha Gerdes, who is completing a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology training programme at the University of Exeter under the supervision of Dr Anke Karl and Dr Huw Williams.
Samantha stressed that the study is contributing to “an area where there is too little research”, adding: “Veterans of any age and gender are invited to take part in the study, regardless of whether they have Post-Traumatic Stress.”
The researchers are hoping to recruit veterans with many different levels of service, varying careers as well as a range of reasons for leaving the Armed Forces.
So, if you are an Armed Forces veteran, of any age or background, you are probably the ideal candidate for this novel research.
