Singer songwriter Jay James has signed an exclusive deal with a British label and is set to launch a new show on a worldwide radio station…
Two years after shooting to fame on The X Factor, the former Royal Navy Fitness Instructor is now working on a new album and has been announced as a brand new presenter for Forces Radio, BFBS.
He was Simon Cowell’s predicted winner of the 2014 series and the music mogul promised viewers Jay would have a long career ahead of him. Now, after following his mentor’s advice to take his time over creating and releasing new music, the Welsh-born star is back in the studio and on the air waves.
Jay will co-host ‘The BIG Friday Show’ – an exciting new programme with award-winning presenter Hal Stewart every Friday from the 16th September at 4pm (GMT) on UK DAB and across all BFBS stations worldwide.
Forces Radio, BFBS reaches millions of listeners in more than 24 countries.
“For the last two years I’ve taken nothing for granted. Behind the scenes I’ve been working hard on new music and making serious steps into broadcasting,” said Jay. “I’m passionate about music and the Armed Forces. Having always been a massive fan of BFBS, it’s a real honour to be part of such a prestigious radio station.
“It broadcasts globally to our military communities and has a fresh approach to informing the public about everything related to the Armed Forces. If you’re proud and love the Forces, if you want to hear great music and have great banter, you’ll love BFBS.”
The charismatic songwriter who has already written and collaborated with global artists such as John Legend, Nick Jonas and Booker T, was also named number 10 in the 2015 Heat and FHM Magazine’s poll of ‘Top 100 Hottest Men in the World’.
Nicky Ness, Controller of BFBS, said: “Jay not only has the X Factor but more importantly has the Forces factor and that is why he’s a perfect fit as a broadcaster for us.”
Co-host Hal Stewart said: “We’re going to be serving up a BIG mix of music, entertainment and guests on the new show and I’m massively excited to be working with Jay who is an absolute gentleman with a long broadcasting career ahead of him.”
