Success stories

Robert – from the RAF to university

Robert joined the RAF as an aircraft technician. During his final two years of service, he began planning for his career in civilian life. Intending to study full-time at university, he realised he needed A levels in maths and physics to be offered a place on the course he planned to apply for. Robert enrolled with NEC so that he could study for these qualifications while stationed in the USA.

Jason – from the army to a career in nursing

Jason knew before leaving the army that he wanted a career helping and caring for people. He took the additional qualifications he needed, so that he could study for a nursing diploma after leaving the army, with NEC. After completing his qualifications he joined the NHS as a nurse and progressed his way up the career ladder, eventually completing a nursing PhD.
