The University of Plymouth is one of the UK’s largest providers of the workforce for health and social care, with over 350 different career pathways and courses with 100% employment rates (NSS 2019). You will benefit from our inter-disciplinary and learning by doing approach to teaching and learning as you study on our programmes. We combine world-leading research and practical expertise across a broad range of scientific and practical disciplines. Driven by our three core principles, we will guide your studies in nursing, midwifery, health professions, psychology, medicine and dentistry, in addition to a multitude of different courses.
Our schools provide excellent skills training and research laboratories, to enable you to develop your communication and clinical skills. It enables you to do things at your own speed with the support of your lecturers and peers, without the pressure of having to get it right first time. Right from the start, the stimulating practice placements that we offer provide you with the exciting opportunity to engage with your future profession- both in practice and hospital settings. This engagement continues for the duration of your studies, and encourages you to explore all employment avenues open to you, to help you shape your future career path and decide which setting you would like to work after graduation.
You will be supported throughout your degree by experienced, enthusiastic, motivated and professionally registered staff with both clinical and academic backgrounds. On completion, you will become an independent competent practitioner with highly developed skills and graduate as a well-paid, fully rounded healthcare professional in your chosen field.
