Job Description
A Principal Training and Learning Consultant will apply training and educational skills, knowledge and experience to support diverse projects across a variety of sectors including, but not exclusively the Defence sector. This role requires training specialists with in-depth knowledge and a demonstrable track record in the practical application of the Systems Approach to Training (SAT). TLS Principal Consultants will be expected to manage, develop and assure training and competence within safety-critical industries where a SAT process is used. UK and occasional International travel will be required in the performance of the role.
Responsibilities
• Lead a wide range of training research, analysis and design activities.
• Deliver complex Training Needs Analysis (TNA) projects for Defence and civil sector clients,
using a SAT-compliant process.
• Develop competency frameworks to meet client needs.
• Managing projects in accordance with RINA processes, ensuring they deliver to quality, time
and budget.
• Conduct strategic stakeholder engagement activities with a range of clients.
• Provide specialist input on training methodologies and approaches in support of commercial
proposals.
• Author and provide the quality assurance of technical reports, using a range of styles to meet
client needs.
• Support the development of graduates and consultants in line with the RINA Appraise ALL
system and associated competency framework.
Job Profile
• SC cleared.
• Recognised Project Management qualification.
• Masters’ Degree or equivalent qualification in an appropriate discipline related to one of the
Capability areas (desirable).
• Kirkpatrick Evaluation qualification or experience (desirable).
• Comprehensive understanding of SAT policies and processes e.g. Joint Services Publication
(JSP 822): Defence Direction and Guidance for Training and Education.
• Interest in, and knowledge of, innovative and technology-enabled learning solutions.
• Detailed knowledge of learning theory, design and evaluation methodologies.
• Experience of the delivery of training analysis and training design (ideally including in
overseas markets).
• Extensive experience of working within a SAT-compliant training environment.
• Experience of the assurance and/or production of formal TNA reports.
• Commercial experience related to training consultancy (highly desirable).
• An understanding of and experience in operating at the strategic / operational level of
Defence (formation headquarters of higher) (desirable).
• Strong project management skills.
• Successful in establishing strong and effective working relationships with customers and
colleagues.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills coupled with excellent attention to detail (especially in
the pursuit of Quality Assurance).
• Self-reliant, proactive and possessing strong initiative coupled with excellent time
management and organisational skills.
• Able to work collaboratively across cultures.
