We are responsible for UK border control by implementing immigration and customs regulations and working with the wider Home Office on counter terrorism, tackling organised crime, modern slavery and trafficking. The role
You’ll be responsible for protecting our borders at airports, seaports and international rail settings. This will involve enforcing immigration controls and taking appropriate action when the need arises. Working within our clear and open guidelines, you’ll make decisions on admission to the country, as well as profiling people, goods and vehicles for border offences.
Conducting casework, detecting prohibited and restricted goods and evidence gathering will also be an important part of your role. There may be times when you will need to search people, premises or vehicles and make arrests.
About you
For this role, strong teamwork and balanced decision-making will be key. You won’t need a security background but you should be able to work flexibly and respond to changing priorities. A skilful problem solver who can think on their feet, you’ll also bring a confident approach and sound judgement to manage challenging situations.
