Exciting Apprenticeships with UK Border Force.

The challenge

The Home Office is here to make the UK safer. Border Force is a Law Enforcement arm of the Home Office with primary responsibility for UK Border Security, including counter terrorism, immigration and customs matters.

We’re responsible for handling the UK border control by implementing immigration and customs regulations and working with the wider Home Office on counter terrorism, tackling organised crime, modern slavery and trafficking.

The role

As an Apprentice you’ll learn, earn and develop your skills while doing the vital job of keeping the UK running and make a real difference to people’s lives.

We’ll be teaching you about legislation, procedures, personal safety and how to use your powers appropriately. Once you understand the theory, we’ll be taking you through how to apply it in practice in a safe environment with our trainers in our classrooms and out in operational areas.

About you

As well as excellent interpersonal skills, you’ll enjoy dealing with all kinds of people. We’re looking for flexible, adaptable and creative problem solvers and multi-taskers. A strong sense of personal ethics and integrity is also essential, as is the ability to confidently manage potentially difficult and challenging situations, build relationships and work as part of a team.

GCSEs at Grade A-D in Maths and English are essential. We’ll also accept equivalent qualifications from a wide range of formal academic and vocational training providers as determined by Ofqual, including, for example, qualifications obtained in Scotland or some BTEC and higher level NVQs.

Benefits

We offer a range of excellent benefits including a Civil Service pension, shift allowances, and generous leave entitlements, – all within a great team and a culture encouraging inclusion and diversity. A career in Border Force can be extremely rewarding and you will be supported through a tailored training programme.
