SSAFA

This is a VOLUNTEER position

Branch Fundraising Organisers are responsible for producing the Branch Fundraising strategy which includes fundraising through trusts and the corporate sector, to events fundraising and local appeals. Branch Fundraising Organisers are responsible to the Branch Chairman, and supported by their Regional Fundraising Manager (RFM) and the Branch Secretary.

Branch Fundraising Organisers receive local induction training about SSAFA and should attend a Fundraisers’ course or any related seminar, within a year of joining. Interviews and references are part of the recruitment process.

A forces background is not essential, a driver’s licence is beneficial for some geographical areas and basic IT skills, enthusiasm and good communication skills are necessary. Experience of fundraising would assist, but is not a requirement. All volunteers are required to adhere to Our Volunteer Policy.

Duties of a Branch Fundraising Organiser include:

  • Researching fundraising opportunities, criteria and deadlines.
  • Developing an ethical fundraising strategy for the Branch, taking account of the Chairman’s priorities, utilising a mix of opportunities.
  • Recruiting fundraising volunteers, when necessary, with support from the Branch Secretary and RFM.
  • Taking part in national annual fundraising appeals.
  • Planning and implementing local appeals, collections and other events, utilising fundraising materials on the extranet and SSAFA templates system.
  • Liaising with the Branch Publicity Officer to utilise public awareness and publicity activities as opportunities for fundraising.
  • Ensuring that all fundraising material complies with SSAFA’s branding styles, promotes current key messages and enhances the Association’s good name.
  • Pursuing opportunities for legacy, trust and corporate fundraising, with advice and guidance from their RFM or Central Office.
  • Closely liaising with their RFM and the Fundraising Department in Central Office, on fundraising matters in the Branch.
  • Provision of appropriate reports to the Branch Chairman for use at executive meetings and the Branch AGM.
  • Ensuring that all data processed or held as part of the role, is processed and held strictly in accordance with SSAFA’s data management policies and procedures.
  • Complying with and promoting SSAFA values and standards, including the code of confidentiality.
