Brief description

The position of graduate developer/engineer requires a talented graduate to work under the guidance of the Senior Developer and the Applications Team Manager and will consist of researching, learning testing of both bespoke software and standard industry “off the shelf” products. Documentation would also be a requirement.

The role will require spending time in the Customer headquarters in London (Euston) as
well as working in Bespoke IT Solutions (BITS) offices in Farnborough.

Tasks

  • Taking instructions from key BITS stakeholders in Applications and development.
  • Developing Knowledge & skills under guidance.
  • Liaise with the Project team and Service Delivery managers.
  • Be instrumental in writing technical documentation under guidance.
  • Travel between offices.
  • Assist in planning and implementation/ modifications of systems/software.
  • Learn skills in release management and development roadmaps. Assist with Coding of solutions in C,TSQL, HTML.
  • Support of 0ffice 365 (in particular SharePoint) SQL 2016 databases in particular.

Qualifications and requirements

Desirable

  • A bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field or equivalent;

Essential

  • Ability to use logic and reason to identify the strengths and weaknesses of solutions;
  • Ability to identify problems under guidance and contribute towards solutions;
  • A good underpinning knowledge of the principles of code writing.

Lines of communication

  • The graduate developer/engineer will report to the Applications Team Manager but will be guided by the Senior Developer.

Working conditions

  • This is a full-time role and will require working from several locations as the mentors will be located either in BITS offices or in London Euston.
  • This is a 35hour working week position (7hrs per day) with an expectation that those hours are fulfilled between 0800 – 1900 Mon – Fri.
  • One of the key responsibilities of this role will be to be able to be guided by senior members of the team and to show a willingness to learn and contribute.

  • This role has 20 days paid leave plus all UK bank holidays
