Job Description:
Armourer Field Mobile Support Teams (FMSTs) will be based at DSG sites across the UK from where they will deploy in Babcock vehicles to work and where necessary live alongside 1 (UK) Div or FTC Units for the agreed exercise durations.
The purpose of this role is to deliver skilled tasks using the correct procedures, tooling/machinery and materials while adhering to the prescribed safety standards to produce high quality outputs in line with the delivery plan(s).
Qualifications & Requirements:
Completed relevant Recognised Indentured Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3 or C&G parts 1, 2 & 3 or Class 1 Tradesman for the British Forces or equivalent demonstrable trade skills.
Sponsored Reserve Opportunity
The Sponsored Reserves concept enables the Ministry of Defence to enter into a defence contract on condition that an agreed proportion of the contractor’s workforce has a reserve liability. Such personnel are known as Sponsored Reserves (SR).
Under Part V of the Reserve Forces Act 1996 (RFA 96), SR have special liabilities for reserve service, military training and call out.
Babcock has a contractual obligation to provide a SR capability to operate the PPRF within DSG. To fulfil this obligation we are actively seeking personnel to volunteer to serve as Sponsored Reserves alongside their normal employment.
Being a Sponsored Reserve offers additional remuneration and personal development opportunities.
Individuals will be required to meet the requirements set by the Ministry of Defence:
- Technically SQEP to Class 1 or 2 Military Engineer or equivalent
- Aged between 18 and 52 years at time of application to join the Army Reserve
- Medically fit
- Physically fit
- Able to attend a maximum of 38 days military training per annum (including “annual camp” 14 days)
- Able to deploy with the field Army when required for periods of up to 6 months overseas”
