Deputy Harbour Master

The Port of London Authority is a statutory harbour authority for the tidal Thames.

We manage and maintain the port’s navigational safety management system.

Our Deputy Harbour Master, based at the PLA offices in Gravesend, will receive a highly competitive salary plus a benefits package that includes:

The successful applicant will support the Harbour Master in directing and co-ordinating the provision of a safe and cost effective service in the Lower District.

The post holder will also act as Deputy Port Security Officer, and nominated Explosives Officer.

Applicants will have the following qualifications/experience:
Hold either STCW 95 II/2 (Masters unlimited) certificate of competency (or equivalent) or a lesser STCW qualification, but with suitable experience; combined with relevant port management experience
Able to lead, motivate and manage effectively
Proven and effective interpersonal skills
Excellent communications skills in all media
The ability to work effectively under pressure
