The 2018 Armed Forces Day National Event will be held in the historic North Wales seaside town of Llandudno on Saturday 30th June 2018…
North Wales has many current and historic links to the Armed Forces, including many Regular and Reserve Army units.
Defence Minister for the Lords, Earl Howe said: “Llandudno represents a superb venue and I’m sure the town will bring together the whole nation in celebrating our Armed Forces.
“Wales was the proud host of the national event in 2010 when thousands of people celebrated in Cardiff. The support from the Welsh Government and local communities, coupled with the rich and vibrant history of Llandudno, means that the town is the ideal choice to make the event even more successful in 2018.”
Many North Walians are proud to serve in the Royal Welsh and nearby RAF Valley, on Anglesey, is home to a fast jet training base. Nearly 10,000 veterans live in Conwy, supported by a number of local and national charities.
Secretary of the State for Wales, Alun Cairns said: “I am delighted that the national Armed Forces Day event will return to Wales in 2018. We will see veterans of wars gone by and soldiers serving in conflicts around the world marching side by side in Llandudno, united in pride in service to their country.
“This day gives us the chance to recognise the role of the Armed Forces and thank all those men and women who have dedicated their lives to protecting our country.”
The town’s national event will be a fantastic focal point for the UK to come together to acknowledge the hard work and sacrifice of those that serve.
