Charity Awards ‘ASAP’ Grant Of Over £50,000

The Soldiers’ Charity have recently given Poppyscotland a substantial grant to assist with their Armed Services Advice Project (ASAP)…

ASAP provides dedicated information, advice and support to members of the Armed Forces community in Scotland. It is funded by a collaboration of funders with Poppyscotland leading the partnership.

The service is provided by the Scottish Citizens Advice Bureau Service who work closely with many organisations, both Service related and others, to provide support to the people who contact them. It has a presence in 24 out of 32 local authorities in Scotland with a national telephone helpline delivered by Advice Direct Scotland.

ASAP provides free, confidential, impartial information, advice and support to people who:

Their advice covers a range of areas, including benefits, debt, employment, relationships and housing.

Gary Gray, Head of Welfare Services at Poppyscotland said: “ASAP is a real success story; it goes a long way to tackling the problems faced by the most vulnerable members of the Armed Forces community in Scotland and excellent results are being achieved.

“ASAP has entered its 9th year of service delivery and we are delighted for the continued loyal funding support from The Soldiers’ Charity so we can do even more to improve the wellbeing of Scotland’s Armed Forces community and stop them from being disadvantaged.”
