Ex-Royal Marines Take On World’s Biggest Island Record Attempt

Two former Royal Marines Louis Nethercott (From Bristol) and Anthony Lambert (from Market Harborough, Leicestershire) are getting ready to embark on an adventure of a lifetime, attempting a world first crossing of the five largest islands in the world…

Starting with Borneo in Autumn 2016, they will trek 1,400km through dense rainforest, traverse extreme mountain ranges and unexplored territory, all completely unaided.

Louis Nethercott was diagnosed with PTSD after a tour of Afghanistan and was the Mental Health Ambassador at Prince Harry’s 2016 Invictus Games in Orlando.

He says: “Before planning Expedition Five, I was finding it hard to find a direction in life knowing I could no longer serve in the military. Planning the expedition has given me a goal and a focus and I want to show others that no matter what, you can still be determined, ambitious and achieve great things.”

The duo want to show that despite what happens, the adventure isn’t over and you can set out to achieve whatever you want, regardless of your situation.
