Free Tickets For This Year’s Armed Forces Day National Event About To Go Live!

50 days to go until Armed Forces Day

The 50-day countdown has started to this year’s three-day Armed Forces spectacular in Salisbury. Tickets go live for this fantastic event at Hudson’s Field from 10am on Wednesday 15 May – tickets are free and you can apply for tickets for single days or all three by visiting www.wiltshire.gov.uk/salisbury-afd and following the ticket link. The advice is to apply early for tickets as demand is expected to be high. A maximum of six tickets are available to book, per person. Don’t miss your chance to be at this year’s biggest free event in Wiltshire as we honour and say thank you to our Armed Forces and all they do to protect our country and keep us safe.

Baroness Scott of Bybrook OBE, Leader of Wiltshire Council, said; “In just 50 days Salisbury will play host to one of the most important dates in the military calendar. Today we’re announcing that tickets for this three day spectacular will be available online from next Wednesday. There’s huge interest in Armed Forces Day National Event so my advice is to book your tickets early to come and join us for what promises to be a wonderful event here in Wiltshire. “We’re a proud military county and we’re looking forward to recognising and celebrating our Armed Forces and the vital role they play. We’ll also be honouring our veterans and welcoming HRH The Princes Royal to Salisbury. This event will be a unique and special event so come and join us. Saturday 29 June is Armed Forces Day nationally which will be marked in Salisbury with a military parade through the city centre which is expected to be watched by thousands of people.

The line-up at Hudson’s Field over the three days includes an air show, military displays and activities, BBC Wiltshire stage, children’s and community activities, culminating in free live entertainment and a firework finale on Saturday evening. Sunday focuses on veterans and young people – those who have served and those who may serve – with a commemoration and drumhead service, supported by the Royal British Legion, with the Bishop of Salisbury and padres leading the service. There will also be the opportunity to help creating a beautiful human poppy in the main arena.

The event is supported by platinum sponsors KBR Aspire Defence and Lovell and the official main charity partner SSAFA. Armed Forces Day is an opportunity to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community – from current serving troops to service families, veterans and cadets. Armed Forces Day nationally takes place on the last Saturday in June, this year it is on 29 June with the national event being held in Salisbury. Celebrations begin on Monday 24 June when the Armed Forces Day flag is raised on buildings and landmarks across the country. Showing support for the Armed Forces provides a much-valued morale boost for troops and their families.
