In London, the British Army will mark the first anniversary of His Majesty The King’s accession to the throne with traditional gun salutes and music.

Two regiments that routinely punctuate the nation’s most historical events with ceremonial gunfire, The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery and The Honourable Artillery Company will each fire Royal Salutes in the capital at 12 noon and 1pm respectively on 8th September 2023.

The Band of the Grenadier Guards, conducted by Captain Robert Smith, will accompany The Royal Horse Artillery salute in Hyde Park. Both regiments taking part in this first Accession Day salute on September 8th 2023, were responsible for firing the Death Gun salutes to mark the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II one year ago, and the following day, the Proclamation salutes to mark the new reign.
