The Technical College is located in the purpose-built International Aviation Academy Norwich, an aviation centre of excellence, providing state of the art classrooms and workshops and allowing hands-on experience on the live Boeing 737 Classic Generation aircraft. The facility is located near to the maintenance hangars, making it a convenient and inspirational place to study. Our college provides a range of EASA and UK CAA approved technical courses including basic training, type training and apprenticeship programmes.
The Role
We have an exciting permanent opportunity for the role of Aviation Technical Training Instructor to join our Technical College team. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about passing on their knowledge and skills to the next generation of Aviation Engineers, building the foundations for the future of the Aviation Industry. This position is based at the International Aviation Academy Norwich and is Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver approved aircraft basic training courses (both theoretical and practical) in compliance with national and international regulatory requirements and standards, and DFE / Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) standards.
- Maintain effective lessons support materials to meet learning objectives. • Undertake the duties of an approved examiner, exam question compiler, practical assessor, and Invigilator.
- Ensure that practical training sessions are conducted in accordance with maintenance procedures and are undertaken in a safe manner.
- When appointed to manage a subject or module, carry out annual reviews of assessment criteria in accordance with Part 66 / Part 147 requirements.
- Maintain currency in subject areas and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of new trends and technologies in relation to the aviation industry and instructional techniques/methodologies to ensure training materials reflect current and emerging technologies.
- Remain compliant with Part 147 continuation and compliance training requirements. • Undertake training course design, including Training Needs Analysis, setting of learning objectives and enabling objectives including the development of all supporting course materials.
- Undertake timely and effective post training course delivery evaluations, ensuring that training course materials remain accurate and current.
- Understand the purpose of and comply with the company’s internal safety reporting scheme (Occurrence Reports) and safety investigations in order to improve safety.
- Provide effective course preparation and planning in accordance with training schedules. • If required to train away from base, ensure programme delivery and 3rd party premises remain compliant with relevant requirements.
Selection Criteria
Essential
- Have either:
- A Part 66 Certifying Technician licence.
OR - EASA or CAA Part 147 training certificate/s of recognition in multiple modules OR
Be familiar with the content of the above, preferably through instruction on similar courses, and be willing to undertake study to gain certificates of recognition.
- Have proven experience in aircraft maintenance engineering on complex motor-powered Turbine Aeroplanes
- Be a confident, clear communicator with the desire and ability to inspire, appraise, mentor and develop others.
- Be active in improving processes with a positive attitude to continuous improvement. • Be competent with the use of IT systems and Microsoft IT Software.
- Behave professionally at all times, employing sound equality, diversity, and inclusivity principles in dealing with colleagues, students, and customers.
- Have the right to work in the UK without visa sponsorship.
Desirable
- Have a sound understanding of Part 66 and Part 147 Legislation.
- Have instructional experience, with a formal qualification or Train the Trainer Course
- Have experience of marking technical assignments or assessments using given criteria.
- Hold assessor experience and/or qualifications or be willing to undertake them.
- Have experience in course design and/or leading courses.
