Starting Salary: £42,501 / £48,336 with the opportunity to earn: £44,574 / £50,810 + an annual company bonus of up to £4k.
Working Pattern: Days (37.5 hours per week, typical hours are 07:30 – 15:40 or 08:10 – 16:20)

Plant Engineers:
Plant Engineers contribute to the delivery of a front-line plant engineering service, decreasing the mean time to repair of assets and equipment reliability process to ensure that the maintenance and operation of the system(s) are performed and managed safely, meeting legal obligations and business requirements efficiently and effectively.

Principle Accountabilities Include:

  • Understand and review compliance with appropriate risk assessment cases, legal obligations and relevant good practice. Contributing to the resolution of new of revised regulatory requirements.
  • Review and maintain the configuration of the assigned group of assets to enable optimum asset performance.
  • Implements and reviews the maintenance strategy for assets and supports the delivery of maintenance activities through the development of maintenance instructions, prompts and technical content of work packs. For S2 and lower, establish asset condition and identify mitigation strategies.

Maintenance Engineers

Maintenance Engineers provide a front-line maintenance support service to improve and maintain the effectiveness of the plant/facility, decreasing the mean time to repair.

Principle Accountabilities include:

  • Deliver frontline support to the Maintenance Teams for routine, emergent and outage activities, to enable the efficient delivery of business objectives.
  • Review Maintenance Instructions and plant / facility drawings through liaison with local technical experts to ensure that any modifications are included to ensure technical accuracy.
  • Effectively organise work for the maintenance craft team members preparing work packages for the one-off maintenance activities (outside of the work planning process) to allow prompt delivery of work.


Reliability Engineer:

Reliability Engineers support the delivery of an engineering reliability service, increasing the mean time between repair of assets and equipment reliability process to enable the development and maintenance of asset strategies to meet business requirements.

Principle Accountabilities include:

  • Support the development of modifications including identification of need, requirements and design work to enable optimal system performance.
  • Contribute to the review all design proposals, testing and installation procedures and modification reviews providing technical guidance as required to ensure effective and smooth change transitions.
  • Review and maintain the asset register and configuration management of the defined assets to enable optimal system performance.

Authorised Person – Electrical (AP(E))

Authorised Person – Electrical provides an expert front line electrical safety support service to reinforce, maintain and improve electrical safety & electrical maintenance during plant operations and maintenance (including isolations) to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation & guidance and to ensure people are working to SL standards and expectations on the SL site and off site facilities.

Principle Accountabilities include:

  • Provide guidance on all aspects of electrical safety to operations, maintenance, projects and contractors to minimise the risk of injury to individuals and ensure compliance to legislation and guidance.
  • Maintain compliance with the Electricity at Work Regulations (E@WRs), IET Wiring Regulations & SL Electrical Safety Rules (ESR) & guidance during any activities by personnel on electrical equipment or electrical systems by undertaking the agreed programme of Task Observations and Electrical Safety Audits.
  • Provide training, coaching and mentoring to Nominated Persons Electrical (NP(e)), Planners, Safe Systems of Work Controllers (SSC) and others as required on activities associated with work on electrical equipment or electrical systems.

Lifting Appliance /Pressure System Engineers

Act as the plant Subject Matter Expert (SME) for compliance with LOLER and PSSR regulations within their area of responsibility.

Reporting to the Lead Plant Engineer, the Pressure System Engineer (PSE) and Lifting Appliance Engineer (LAE) Engineer will be working to ensure that lifting equipment and pressure systems are inspected and maintained to ensure they are free of safety defects and are kept in good repair and efficient working order.

Principle Accountabilities include:

  • Assist Reliability Engineers in developing the Examination, Inspection, Maintenance and Testing arrangements for Pressure System Equipment and Lifting equipment and establish the preventative and periodic maintenance approach required to keep plant in an efficient state, in an efficient working order and in good repair.
  • Establish a close working relationship with the Competent Body (Bureau Veritas). Work with the Competent Body to:
    – develop appropriate examination schemes for each service/item of equipment, and
    – to facilitate timely and efficient statutory examination visits in accordance with these schemes.
  • Provide technical oversight/supervision to maintenance teams when carrying out maintenance specific activities on assigned pressure systems or lifting equipment.

The Ideal Candidate:

We’re looking for people that have good knowledge in Engineering, whether this may be through direct experience, or through transferable skills.

Essential Skills:

  • Higher level qualification or equivalent training/experience in an Engineering/Maintenance discipline.
  • Demonstrable understanding and application of Equipment Reliability processes or provision of support to front line maintenance delivery.
  • Demonstrable experience of ensuring / improving plant and equipment reliability and availability.
  • Demonstrable experience of acting as a subject matter expert for both internal and external stakeholders.

Desirable Skills:

  • Chartered / Incorporated Engineer status or potential to achieve with an accredited professional institute.
  • Engineering qualification and experience in Engineering/Maintenance role or an environment of similar context and complexity.
  • Demonstrable evidence of acting as a role model to promote and challenge behaviours and change.
  • Demonstrable evidence of complying with appropriate regulations, standards and policies.
