    Based in Hampshire, The King’s Helicopter Flight is a small, close-knit team that provides helicopter travel to Members of the Royal Family undertaking official duties in the UK and near continent. 

    As a Landing Site Officer, you will be responsible for conducting landing site surveys, managing helicopter landing sites, and providing on-site support.   

    Key Responsibilities:  

    • You’ll carry out detailed landing site surveys across a wide range of environments, assessing suitability and safety in line with operational requirements. 
    • You’ll oversee the full management of helicopter landing sites—by day and night—ensuring secure and smooth operations at every location. 
    • Acting as a key point of contact, you’ll liaise with venue hosts, local authorities, police forces and other external stakeholders to coordinate safe and effective landings. 
    • You’ll conduct aviation radiotelephony communications and carry out precise helicopter marshalling to support inbound and outbound movements. 
    • Providing on-site operational support, you’ll assist with aircraft cleaning, guarding and replenishment to ensure readiness at all times. 
    • You’ll lead on refuelling procedures, including fuel quality assurance, assessing site suitability, and safely dispensing aviation fuel. 
    • You’ll maintain continuous flight following, and when required, activate appropriate alerting procedures to safeguard operations. 
    • You’ll be part of a team, but often will work independently, often outdoors in all weathers.

    Due to the flexible nature of Aviation operations, you will need to live within a reasonable distance of RAF Odiham (ideally within 90 minutes) to assist with aviation related secondary duties and team evolutions such as staff meetings and training.  

    Essential Criteria 

    • Full, clean UK category B + E driving licence  
    • Good time management skills and planning skills with a focus on detail and identification of potential hazards. 
    • With solid spatial awareness, you’re adept at using a range of mapping and planning tools to support effective operations. 
    • An understanding of rotary wing operations and associated hazards. 
    • Excellent communication skills, you’ll liaise confidently and clearly with stakeholders at all levels. 
    • Proactive and a natural problem solver, you assimilate complex information swiftly to make quick decisions that prioritise safety and operational efficiency.

    Desirable Criteria 

    • An understanding of meteorology and weather factors affecting aviation 
    • Understanding of aviation risks, hazards and air safety.
