Salary: Up to £57,600 commensurate with skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
- The Warship Technical Authority (WTA) combined with the DE&S Warship Approving Authority form the Warship Design Authority and this role provides governance and oversight of Engineering decisions that affect Auxiliary Marine Systems
- Provide specialist knowledge in mechanical systems engineering and undertake a range of engineering activities in line with all CSM and BAE Systems business processes and quality requirements
- Co-ordinate engineering activity ensuring defined objectives are achieved, whilst continually maintaining safety, quality, and service requirements
- Provide advice and support to the WTA Marine Systems DTA for their assigned platform, wider WTA Engineering team and other functions
- Responsible for providing mechanical systems engineering capability across a broad set of challenges to meet the needs of COM internal projects and the customer programmes
- Provide line management to junior engineers across a range of supported platforms
- Be exposed to various opportunities to gain experience in working across different platforms and roles elsewhere in the wider warship support function
Your skills and experiences:
- Degree qualified in Mechanical / Marine Engineering and be a Chartered Engineer with a relevant professional body (or be close to achieving this)
- Good degree of knowledge of marine auxiliary and platform systems, preferably from in-service experience.
- A good understanding of Ministry of Defence/Royal Navy safety, engineering and project governance processes
- A good understanding of the defence maritime industry

The Asset Management WTA Marine Systems Engineering Team:
This team provides constant engineering support to the supported classes of RN warships within Portsmouth Naval Base including the Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carriers, T45 Destroyers, T23, Hunt MCMV, and River Class OPVs. It has an involvement in all aspects of the waterfront support provided by the Class Management Team, including maintenance & upkeep, as well as the introduction of new capability. This team has a strong track record of professional development with support in achieving CEng accreditation.
