Longest Ride On The Longest Day

Two medals with red, white, and blue ribbons are displayed on a WRNS emblem, symbolizing the dedication of Royal Navy veterans. One medal features a cyclist design, while the other commemorates a cycling event from June 21, 2018.

Former Wren, Liz Brown, retired last year and decided 2018 would be her challenge year…

Her first event was to attempt her longest ever cycle ride in aid of the Women’s Royal Naval Service Benevolent Trust. At 0430 on the Longest Day she set off to cycle 150 miles around the New Forest.

Supporters cheered her on from various watering holes and by 1730 she returned (looking remarkably fresh) to Milford on Sea for the finish, with 154 miles successfully under her belt.

The Trust expressed enormous thanks to Liz , her co rider Neil, her motor cycle outrider and all round support Brian Capocci and to those former Wrens who gathered at the finish to welcome her home to celebrate her fantastic achievement.

Thank you to all those who have supported Liz and to all those who have not and wish to, there is still time as the appeal will run for another month. You can donate here.

A large brick building with multiple windows and decorative columns, featuring the Victory Services Club logo on the upper right, stands as a welcoming haven for veterans and members of the Royal Navy.
