Major General Phil Prosser CBE has been appointed as the next Chief of Defence Logistics and Support (CDLS).
His Majesty the King has approved the appointment, and Maj Gen Prosser will take up the post in October 2026 in the rank of lieutenant general. He will succeed Vice Admiral Andy Kyte and lead the Defence Support organisation through a period of modernisation and integration.
Key role in Defence Support modernisation
The CDLS role sits within the Defence Support organisation, part of the National Armaments Director (NAD) Group. The post-holder is responsible for strategic military logistics and support advice, as well as overseeing the implementation of the Defence Support Strategy and ensuring support functions are coherent and effective across Defence.
Maj Gen Prosser has held a range of senior posts supporting military operations, including roles in Army Headquarters, Field Army, Defence Equipment & Support, Defence Support and wider Defence structures.
Rupert Pearce, National Armaments Director, said Prosser brought “unique insight and experience” to a role focused on sustaining operations and ensuring the armed forces have the support needed on the frontline.
Vice Admiral Andy Kyte welcomed the appointment and said Prosser was well placed to lead the changes required to meet the ambitions of the Strategic Defence Review and strengthen warfighting readiness.
Maj Gen Prosser said he was “delighted and incredibly proud” to have been selected, adding that it was an honour to lead the organisation as it continues work to modernise the delivery of Defence support.
