Military charity Blind Veterans UK is holding a 10 mile walking challenge this Saturday 30th March and encouraging people to join them on the day…

Starting and finishing at the Blind Veterans UK training and rehabilitation centre in Llandudno at 10:00 am, walkers will head for the Promenade, along to the War Memorial before making their way up and around the Great Orme.

Those already signed up to take part include Blind Veterans UK staff members who will be dressed in First World War costumes walking with their hand on the shoulder of the person in front as the very first blind veterans did. They will be joined by members of the Royal Welsh, members of the local community keen to support Blind Veterans UK as well as blind veterans supported by the charity.

For those wishing to support the charity but not able to undertake the challenge, volunteers are also hosting a ‘Meet Up Brew Up’ at the Llandudno Centre for from 12:30 pm – 3:00 pm. Visitors can come and join in with some biscuit themed fun including a biscuit building competition while exploring the Blind Veterans UK training facilities.

The ‘Meet Up Brew Up’ is perfect for people wishing to help the charity welcome back the walkers with a hot drink and biscuits before medals are presented to those who have completed the challenge.

The walk and ‘Meet Up Brew Up’ are both part of Blind Veterans UK’s March Is For Veterans which allows people to support the charity in various ways throughout the month of March. You can find out more at blindveterans.org.uk/marchisforveterans
