Pathfinder International has announced its backing behind The Royal British Legion’s ‘Thank You’ campaign.

The initiative sees The Legion invite the public to say ‘Thank You’ to the First World War generation, who served, sacrificed and changed our world.

The charity is calling on the nation to remember not only the 1.2 million British and Commonwealth Armed Forces who lost their lives, but also those – military and civilian – who played their part on the home front and those who returned to build a better life for the benefit of generations to come.

The working partnership between Pathfinder and the Legion’s ‘Thank You’ campaign will see a dedicated themed magazine issue on memories and stories of World War 1 inside Left Right Left – a military memories supplement inside Pathfinder, due to be published in August. The magazine will then include a series of stories culminating in the Remembrance weekend reflections in November.

Pathfinder editor, Mal Robinson said: “It is vital we do not forget the ultimate sacrifice so many took serving their country from 1914 to 1918 and the centenary of the end of the war is such an apt way to say thank you.”

Robinson added: “The August issue of Left Right Left will be entirely based on stories and memories from this era and will feature interviews with veterans with links to World War 1. It will be a fitting tribute to what I see as a wonderful campaign.”

In addition to the special issue, Pathfinder will also utilise the Legion’s services within the publication, including Moneyforce, which will feature top financial tips for ex-service personnel, whilst also showcasing Veteran’s Gateway – a ground breaking collaborative between several Service charities and the MOD form a one-stop service for veterans seeking support.

The Legion is inviting the British public from all cultures and faiths, community groups, schools, companies and sports clubs to join the movement to express their gratitude to those who gave themselves to the war and its aftermath, and rebuilt a better nation from its darkest hour.

The Legion is asking the nation to plan their ‘Thank You’ activity to take place between 8 August and 11 November, while the final day of daylight saving – itself an outcome of the First World War – will be a focus for ‘Thank You’ activity on Sunday 28 October.
