RAF Benevolent Fund secures £20,000 grant for RAF Brize Norton youth facility

The RAF Benevolent Fund has received a £20,000 grant from the Serco Foundation to support improvements at RAF Brize Norton’s Millennium Amenities Centre.

The funding will be used to upgrade the site’s kitchen facilities, which are used by children and young people attending Airplay – the RAF Benevolent Fund’s youth programme delivered on RAF stations for those aged five to 18.

RAF Brize Norton is one of the bases where Airplay sessions are held, supporting 185 children and young people through youth club activities aimed at building confidence, life skills and social connection.

Cookery sessions among most popular activities

The charity said the kitchen upgrade will allow Airplay youth workers to run more meaningful activities in a better-equipped space, with cookery described as one of the programme’s most popular sessions. The improved facilities will support teaching around cooking and nutrition, as well as encouraging healthy eating habits.

The RAF Benevolent Fund added that the kitchen will also serve the wider RAF community, offering a space for families to meet and connect.

A spokesperson for Serco Defence said the company was pleased to support RAF families through its charitable foundation, while the RAF Benevolent Fund said the investment would make a lasting difference to families on station.

The RAF Benevolent Fund provides financial, practical and emotional support for serving and retired RAF personnel and their families, including hardship grants, mental health support and youth provision through Airplay.
