WPF Therapy is a well-established charity and a company limited by guarantee, founded in 1969, with a reputation for high standards and active membership of the main professional bodies, including BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy) and BPC (British Psychoanalytic Council). Our graduates are registered with BPC and/or UKCP and/or BACP. In addition to a training arm that covers the complete ladder of training, from foundation level through to post-qualification, we offer a clinical service that is accredited by BACP. Across the entire ladder of training we provide training for approximately 1000 people each year.

With over 50 years’ experience of providing counselling and psychotherapy courses, we are the choice for those who want to do something different with their lives that will also use the life experiences they have already gathered. When you embark on one of our courses you become part of a stimulating, challenging and rewarding learning community that will improve your understanding of the way you interact with other people, develop your professional skills and can form the foundation for a change of career to enable you to train as a professionally registered psychotherapist.

For veterans and those leaving the armed forces the courses that will be of immediate interest are our Foundation Certificates in Counselling Skills courses. These foundation level courses start at four different points each year – in January, April, June and October. These WPF Therapy courses are eligible for ELCAS funding and provide an excellent introduction, not only to what to expect from a counselling or psychotherapy training, but also to how learning about yourself can help improve your understanding of what might be the best focus for your future.

Thinking about a career using counselling skills is an area where a diverse range of past experiences is seen as a positive asset to individual and group learning.

WPF Therapy currently offers a mixture of online and in-building courses. The future aim is to return to offering all our courses in person. We hold regular free online open events where anyone interested in our courses can find out more about what they involve and what they can lead to. Additionally, we have a full time training administration team who are able to answer enquiries.

We provide:

  • training in counselling skills for people who work with people
  • professional trainings and CPD in psychotherapy
  • a positive commitment to equalities and diversity
  • high-quality, affordable counselling and psychotherapy
  • a variety of therapies, short and long term, because people have different needs
  • support for mental wellbeing in the workplace
