Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation extended

The Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation has extended its longstanding partnership with SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, which has seen the business donate over £500,000 to the charity in the past 17 years.

Sodexo works across Ministry of Defence sites throughout the UK, delivering a wide range of catering and food services to meet the unique and varied needs of the whole force.

The Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation has supported SSAFA since 2008 through volunteering, employee fundraising, sponsorship and by providing vital support to SSAFA’s key services.

Over the years, the Foundation has donated over £500,000 to SSAFA, helping the charity address the urgent issue of deprivation amongst ex-servicemen and women and their families. With this support, SSAFA can ensure that those who need it have support to access essential household items, as well as helping with the rising need for emergency food and grocery supplies.

To mark another year of partnership, the Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation has committed a £40,000 donation and will also support the 13 Bridges Challenge. The 13 Bridges Challenge is SSAFA’s annual event where hundreds descend upon London to walk a 10-mile route across 13 bridges, fundraising for SSAFA’s work with serving Armed Forces personnel, veterans and their families.

Samantha Scott, Head of Communications for Sodexo Government and Energy and Resources, and Trustee of the Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation, commented:

“Unfortunately, everyone is not equal in the face of food insecurity. Sadly, veterans can be at risk of going without food and essentials. It has been our pleasure to be working with SSAFA, in a range of ways, over the past 17 years to help veterans and their families combat food insecurity.”

Jenny King, Head of Corporate Engagement at SSAFA, added:

“We’re very grateful to the Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation for their continued support. No ex-serviceman or woman, or their families, should need to live in deprivation. The invaluable backing of companies like Sodexo ensures that we can support as many members of the Armed Forces community as possible, whenever they need some help.”
