This Christmas, the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) has launched its Christmas Appeal, “Support in a Storm,” to raise essential funds to help veterans and their families face life’s toughest challenges.
RNRMC invites the public to support veterans like Janet, a former Royal Navy service member whose life changed irrevocably when her helicopter was shot down during her service in Iraq.
Janet’s injuries led to her medical discharge and the eventual amputation of her leg. “I felt like I’d lost my family,” she shares. “I didn’t know where to go. I was in a terrible storm.”
Thanks to support from RNRMC, Janet found new hope and community through Turn to Starboard, a veteran’s sailing project supported by the charity. “I’m now sailing again. I get to be around other veterans and make new friends. They have given me a purpose in life. They have given me my life back,” she says.
This Christmas season, RNRMC is calling on the public to help more veterans like Janet by contributing to the Christmas Appeal. From 12pm on 3rd December to 12pm on 10th December, donations will be DOUBLED through the Big Give Christmas Challenge, allowing supporters to make twice the impact.
How Your Christmas Donation Can Help:
• £10 could help provide essential support for veterans, allowing them to navigate the storms that can follow an unexpected discharge.
• £20 could help veterans rediscover their community and emotional support.
• £50 could fund opportunities for veterans like Janet to find a renewed sense of purpose and essential skills.
• £100 could assist veterans facing financial crises, providing support with living, medical, or care costs.
No veteran should face their storm alone. By donating to the RNRMC Christmas Appeal, you can help provide life-changing support to veterans and their families. To make a donation, please click here
