Annington Trust has renewed its commitment to provide funding of £6,600 per annum for SSAFA’s Short Breaks for a further three years which will allow SSAFA to provide 20 places for families needing respite and fun…
SSAFA’s Short Breaks are a fun-filled adventure open exclusively to military families with children who have additional needs and disabilities – and siblings are welcome too. The next Family Break runs from Monday 21 October – Friday 25 October 2019 at the Calvert Trust in Exmoor, with 50 spaces available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Iqtadar Hasnain, Head of Major Giving at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity said: “We are delighted that the Annington Trust has pledged their support to these vital Short Breaks for another three years. It is often the case that activity areas on military bases are not geared up for children with additional needs or disabilities, which makes these breaks all the more necessary for that all-important family bonding time. This funding means that we can take away the financial consideration for some attendees, leaving them free to focus on making memories.”
Helen Liddell, Chair of the Annington Trust said: “We are delighted to be supporting SSAFA’s Short Breaks initiative for a third year. The Trustees are very keen on projects that help Service youngsters build self-confidence and we are only too aware of the benefits these types of experiences can have on young people. We hope everyone has a fantastic time.”
