Her Majesty The Queen Set To Make Second Address To The Nation On VE Day

An elderly woman with white hair, wearing a blue floral dress, matching hat with flowers, white gloves, and pearls—perhaps once a proud Pathfinder in the Royal Navy—smiles and waves at the camera.

HRH Queen Elizabeth II will make the address at 9pm on May 8 to mark Victory in Europe Day. HRH The Prince of Wales will also read from King George VI’s diary.

Members of the Royal Family will make video calls to veterans on the day following the cancellation of the veterans’ procession due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Extracts from Winston Churchill’s victory speech will also be read at 3pm on the day.

The recording will be aired the exact moment her father, King George VI gave a radio address some 75 years previous.

This will be the Queen’s second televised address during the Coronavirus outbreak.

Copies of the Pathfinder Support Our Services campaign poster will be made available for download from next week. Please take a moment on May 8 to display these in windows across the UK as we support our services, both armed and emergency on May 8.
