Forces Employment Charity has appointed former Army brigadier Matt Bazeley OBE as its new chief executive.
Bazeley will take up the role at the end of July, succeeding Alistair Halliday, who is retiring after more than seven years leading the charity.
A former Royal Engineers officer, Bazeley served in the Army for more than 30 years after enlisting in 1992. His military career included operational deployments to Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan, alongside senior leadership and strategic planning roles.

Since leaving the military in 2022, he has served as chief executive of the Civil Service Sports Council, overseeing governance and organisational changes. He also holds voluntary roles within the military and sporting sectors, including chair of BaseballSoftball UK and vice president of the Royal Engineers Association.
Speaking about his appointment, Bazeley said he had personally experienced the challenges of transition from military to civilian employment after leaving the Armed Forces.
He said he wanted to build on the charity’s recent growth by strengthening partnerships and expanding opportunities for veterans and their families.
The Forces Employment Charity supports serving personnel, veterans, reservists and military families with employment, training and career transition services.
Chair Ben Farrell paid tribute to outgoing chief executive Alistair Halliday, saying his leadership had strengthened the organisation and expanded its impact across the Armed Forces community.
