Armed Forces Expo Plymouth – A Review

It was a busy weekend for the Pathfinder magazine team!

Friday June 23 saw the 11th Armed Forces & Veterans Expo take place at Home Park, Plymouth, the event being opened by Veteran’s Minister, Johnny Mercer. The expo was sponsored by Princess Yachts.

People attend an indoor exhibition or trade fair, conversing and visiting stands with informational displays and promotional materials focused on Army veteran resettlement in a well-lit, carpeted room.

The expo was another great success, the event starting with Veteran’s Minister, Johnny Mercer, presenting the Armed Forces Community Lockdown Award for the Most Outstanding Service Personnel to Lt Paul Holvey of the Royal Navy, for his monumental efforts during the pandemic.

Mr Mercer then met the array of exhibitors on hand for the event, before the doors were opened to the forces community.

Exhibitors such as the University of Plymouth, Train 4 All, Forces Pension Society, Alma Law, Thames Valley Police and Sellafield chatted to attendees, whilst Doug Stein offered his advice through Lego Serious Play.

Pathfinder editor, Mal Robinson added: “it was another tremendous event in Plymouth and great to see a variety of people there on the day. I would like to extend my thanks to Johnny Mercer and Mrs Mercer for their support with the expo, our main sponsor, Princess Yachts, our exhibitors, Plymouth Argyle Football Club and the attendees for making the expo a success.”

The following day, 66 miles down the road, Pathfinder were out and about for the National Armed Forces Day Main Event in Falmouth, with the general public and forces community given our June issue and Armed Forces Day postcards designed by pupils from Fulwell Juniors with the theme of “Armed Forces by the Seaside” fully adopted.
